Creating a Database Connection Using DriverManager

The DriverManager class in the java.sql package provides the getConnection() method to establish a connection between a Java application and a database. There are three commonly used overloaded forms of getConnection().

1. Using getConnection(String url)

This method establishes a database connection using only the JDBC URL. The username and password must be handled through the URL or other driver-specific configuration.

Syntax:

Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(String url);

2. Using getConnection(String url, String user, String password)

This is the most commonly used method for creating a JDBC connection. It accepts the database URL, username, and password separately.

Syntax:
